Rachael Smith – a Brisbane based illustrator

Favorite mediums: pencil, Indian inks and graphics tablet.
She uses both paper sketches as well as Photoshop and Illustrator, adding lots of layers of vintage patterns and textures. She uses mid-century colour palettes and is inspired by whimsical tales and adventures she read as a child.
"My drawings all have their own unique story attached and I like to think these little one-page picture books are the perfect escape for anyone wanting to immerse themselves for a moment or two into a lovely world of make-believe. I believe very much in making only a happy imprint on this world and print with Hahnemuhle fine art archival paper, made from sustainable forestry practices and produced with green energy. My designs are also printed on fabric made from organic cotton, certified by Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS). This means Penelope and Pip creations are not just lovely to look at and use, but good for the earth as well."
